Our New Additions: Meet Uno and the Expectant Mothers
2/20/20242 min read

Recently, our family farm welcomed some new members to our growing livestock. Thanks to my uncle's connections with local farmers, we decided to acquire four cows to add to our pastures. Despite our initial concerns about the readiness of our pastures, my uncle's persuasion won us over. And so, we found ourselves with four beautiful bovines - Blondie, Molly, Elsa, and Anna.
Our first cow, Blondie, is a lovely Hereford. She was the first to deliver, and we were overjoyed to witness the birth of her calf. In honor of this momentous occasion, we named the newborn bull Uno, signifying his status as the first official birth on our farm. Uno is already showing signs of strength and curiosity, exploring his new surroundings with a playful spirit.
Molly, a Black Angus, is also expecting and will be calving in the spring. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of her calf. It's always an exciting and heartwarming experience to witness the miracle of new life on the farm. We can't wait to see what Molly's little one will look like and what kind of personality it will have.
Anna, our Charolais cow, is also pregnant and expected to calf soon. We are keeping a close eye on her, ensuring she receives the care and attention she needs during this crucial time. The anticipation of Anna's calf adds an extra layer of excitement to our days, as we eagerly await the arrival of another precious addition to our farm.
While Elsa, Molly's yearling, is not currently pregnant, she is an important part of our growing herd. We are grateful to have her by our side as she learns from her mother and prepares for her own journey into motherhood in the future. Watching Elsa grow and develop has been a rewarding experience, and we look forward to seeing her take on the role of a mother when the time comes.
As we navigate the world of livestock farming, we are constantly learning and adapting. Each new addition to our farm brings its own set of challenges and rewards. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment for our cows and ensuring they have everything they need to thrive. From nutritious food to comfortable shelter, we prioritize their well-being above all else.
Our journey with Uno, Blondie, Molly, Elsa, and Anna is just beginning, and we are excited to see how our herd grows and flourishes. We are grateful for the guidance and support of my uncle and the local farmers who have shared their wisdom with us. Their expertise has been invaluable as we embark on this new chapter of our farming adventure.
In the coming months, as we eagerly await the arrival of Molly's calf and Anna's calf, we will be documenting our experiences and sharing them with you. Stay tuned for updates on our growing family and the joys and challenges of raising cattle. We hope that by sharing our journey, we can inspire others who are considering starting their own farming endeavors or simply curious about life on a farm.
